In a village in Hunan, it is the beginning of spring. Honggui, a 14-year-old girl who lives with her aunt, daily stares anxiously at the still-clean toilet paper stuffed into her underpants. At school, she refuses a request by her best friend, Baiyu. At her aunt’s house where she has lived for 7 years, her aunt often plays mahjongg deep into the night…
