THUNDER BAY — Weed Man announced that their Grassroots Giving campaign successfully collected 170 pounds of food for the Thunder Bay Food Bank, working out to nearly 141 meals for local families.

The Thunder Bay Food Bank, in a media release on Friday, stated that every time they open, they provide food for over 120 households, comprised of over 200 people, including children, students, adults and seniors. As a fully volunteer-run organization that does not receive government funding, they rely on the generous donations of the community to provide a wide variety of food to their clients.

Weed Man said they are firm believers that charity starts in people’s own front yard, which is why they were so proud to partner with the amazing team at the food bank and distribute all donations right in the community. As a franchised lawn care company with nearly 1,000 territories across North America, Weed Man used their teams and trucks to gather food donations from customers as part of its national campaign.

Aiding families has never been more important, as one in eight households in the U.S. and one in five Canadian families face food insecurity. While the fleet collected 78,000 pounds of food for last year’s inaugural campaign, this year the total reached 108,000 pounds, far exceeding its goal. “It’s amazing to see the entire Weed Man family step up and we’re happy we could do our part for families right here in Thunder Bay,” Weed Man said.
