Police seize reported $5,000 worth of cocaine as part of joint investigation.
ASUBPEESCHOSEEWAGOG – A police investigation has led to two arrests and the seizure of illegal drugs in Asubpeeschoseewagong, also known as Grassy Narrows First Nation.
Officers with the Treaty Three Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police seized an amount of cocaine with a reported street value of $5,000 on Thursday as part of a joint investigation into the sale of controlled substances in the First Nation, located about 50 kilometres northeast of Kenora.
Two members of the community, aged 24 and 27, have been charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking (Schedule I). Both have been released from custody ahead of a future court appearance in Kenora.
In a release, Treaty Three Police Service said dealing of illegal drugs is a growing concern among First Nations in the Treaty Three region.
